"Jimmy Spero is one of the busiest guitarists in Sacramento, and keeps people entertained for hours with beautiful and exciting renditions of songs from every era which he pulls from the large repertoire he keeps in his head, rarely needing to read music (which he does, of course). He plays, he sings, and maintains a wonderful connection with his audiences. Jimmy appears in various jazz festivals, and is excellent in the studio as well."

My musical journey started when I was very young. Vacationing in Mexico, my parents took me to a curio shop to buy a guitar. That guitar became my best friend.
Exposure to music intensified when I remained in San Diego for a number of years after discharge from the U.S. Navy. I moved to Sacramento in 1990 and became active as musician.
The guitarists Joe Pass, Wes Montgomery and Django Reinhardt are big influences. I love to perform chordal arrangements of jazz and pop standards, as well as classical, country, bluegrass, reggae, funk, and classic rock 'n' roll.
Also, backing up singers is a joy (I do a lot of this). The interplay of guitar and vocals is a special treat.
As an old sax man I knew in San Diego used to say: "Life's a Gas!"
